The common question these days in every Nepali's mind is : MCC bhaneko k ho? In this video, we will be discussing MCC vaneko k ho in simple Nepali language so that everyone understands this important topic of MCC grant. The widely controversial project MCC is in the spotlight in almost all of the national media and party discussions. However, many people are still unaware of what exactly this MCC is and why there are so many discussions going on around this topic. The recent comments and expressions of US authorities about MCC being a part of their Indo-pacific strategy (IPS) have also sparked more debates across the country. Does Prachanda support MCC? Is the current situation of Nepal somehow linked to MCC and its approval? Where do KP Oli and others stand in relation to the MCC project? There are lots of questions still not answered clearly. After the debate of Rishi Dhamala and Bhim Rawal, there are even more questions related to MCC. Is MCC good for Nepal? what is the actual truth of MCC? Will MCC help the US send its troop (US Army) to Nepal? What are the terms in the MCC Nepal agreement that is detrimental to the sovereignty of Nepal? Who is supporting the MCC project? Who are against this MCC project? Why leaders like Pradip Gyawali, Minendra Rijal, KP Oli and many leaders of Nepali Congress including Sher Bahadur Deuwa soo keen to pass the MCC project in Cabinet while leaders like Bhim Rawal, Rabindra Mishra, Gagan Thapa and intellectuals and political analysts like Bharat Dahal in opposition of the MCC grant? These are becoming everyday questions of Nepalese citizens these days who are locked inside their homes due to the Corona Pandemic. Although there were questions and debates regarding this grant from the moment the agreement was signed, the epidemic of opposition from citizen level started when the intellectuals have begun discussing the issue after the US official's remarks that this is part of their Indo-pacific strategy (IPS). Why is there so much controversy regarding MCC and the main issues regarding the MCC fund? There are lots of discussions regarding the Army or security aspect and other things, I will be explaining with evidence what actually is there in the agreement and how this can impact/affect Nepal in long run. According to the US government, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is an innovative and independent U.S. foreign assistance agency that is helping lead the fight against global poverty. Will the MCC invite and allow the US Army in Nepal? Why would The United states be interested in a small country like Nepal? The agreement itself doesn't have any component of the military in it. The US Embassy also clarified this in its fact sheet about the MCC project. However, since the US officials themself have provided sufficient evidence that this is part of their Indo-pacific strategy, the world won’t be surprised to see the activities of US spies or Armies with the help of this and similar agreements. Nepal is in an interesting position geographically and politically. The two Giants; China and India, whom the US is watching closely share the border with Nepal and this is no better place for the US to install its intelligence and monitoring bodies. So, yes, Nepal definitely attracts establishment of the US bodies and MCC might be a strong ladder to climb the Himalayan nation to have its binoculars installed.
