The Falklands War between Argentina and Britain a conflict arising due to disputes over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands/Islas Malvinas. In 1982 Argentina's President Galtieri invaded the Falklands resulting in Margret Thatcher announcing a war zone around the island and sending soldiers to retrieve it. The war saw the passing of 900 men the majority of which on the Argentinian side as the British soldiers were far more skilled. The war lasted 74 days with the outcome being a British victory as the Argentinian's surrendered after being surrounded and had their supply line knocked off in Port Stanley. There is still felling among many citizens of Argentina that the islands should belong to them however to this date they are still under British control.
